Our Visit to the Hamnavoe

Last Tuesday we went on a visit to the Hamnavoe.  It was a brilliant trip!  We learned lots about the ship, had crisps and juice on board and even got a special Viking t-shirt as a souvenir!  We started our visit by walking through the Terminal Building and along the walkway.  We met our 'Tour Guide' John who was going to show us around.  Then we set off!

We got to see inside some of the cabins.  There were really small ones and also a bigger one which could fit a wheelchair inside.  The whole of Primary 2 could fit in this cabin!

Then we went to the next deck on board.  We were given our t-shirts and changed into them.  We got our photo taken with a picture of the Northlink Viking - Magnus.  You can see us doing our Magnus poses!

Then we got taken through some corridors which said 'Crew Only'!  It was very exciting.  We went all the way up to the Bridge of the ship where we learned about how the boat turns and saw all the different computers which help to run the boat.  We also got to meet the Captain of the Hamnavoe!

When we were in the Bridge we were allowed to sit in the Captain's Chair and wear his hat!  It was great fun!  Miss Shearer even had a go!  See if you can spot us in our role as Captain of the Hamnavoe!

Being Captain was tiring work so we went for a sit down in the Restaurant.  Here we had a crisp and juice stop!

After a peedie rest we were raring to go and so we headed on to the Outside Deck of the Hamnavoe!  We saw the lifeboats and where they keep a special chute to slide down incase of emergencies.  Then we got very brave and went up to the highest point on the Hamnavoe - right on the very top!  It was very high and quite windy up there but it was exciting to be right on the top of the ship!

We came back down and headed back to school.  It was a great trip and we will remember it for a while to come!  Thank you to everyone who helped to organise the trip and make it so much fun for us!
